Mercy Corps has been working in Jordan since 2002 and operates across Jordan in 11 of the 12 governorates: Irbid, Ajloun, Jerash, Mafraq, Balqa, Amman, Zarqa, Madaba, Karak, Tafilah, and Ma’an. Our strategy is built on three program pillars:
• Humanitarian Response and Protection
• Community Strengthening and Governance
• Economic Growth and Resource Conservation.
Each pillar works with solutions that are both immediate and enduring, that pertain to all people living in Jordan, and that encompass the entire relief to-development spectrum. We strive to meet the most basic humanitarian needs of individuals and families; build inclusive, cohesive, and cooperative communities; and expand economic opportunity, productivity and equity.
Within each of our pillars, we seek to achieve programmatic impact, influence change makers at the local and global levels, and innovate in search of better solutions, knowing that all three are essential for achieving lasting transformational change. We also know that we cannot do it alone. We work in partnership with the private sector, public sector and civil society, ensuring that solutions are locally owned and do not put unnecessarily strain on water and energy resources.
